Takeo's Okuizome Celebration!!

We celebrated Takeo's 100th day by performing the "okuizome" celebration with him tonight.

Okuizome - a ceremony held either on the 100th, 110th, or 120th day after the birth. On this day, a baby eats or pretends to eat foods for the first time, wishing a baby not to suffer from lack of food throughout life

We pulled out his high chair and "fed" him a tofu dish that mom made especially for him*. As you can see, he had mixed emotions about the whole affair.

The bowl & chopsticks were a gift from a colleague at work for him (note the chopsticks are "held together" at the top to make it easier for kids and 41-year olds). And if you notice the bowl ended up empty, so he really enjoyed it in the end!

Like when he gets his temperature taken...
This is also the first time he has sat in his high chair (he is still too little for it). Also many people have enjoyed that he is having a Raspberry Snapple too! Lovin' the tofu!
Dad, what exactly am I supposed to do with this "rice boulder"?? Great smile (also note that there might be rice kernel on his top lip!)
I like my big bowl... is there anything else under the ton o'rice & tofu? Hey!? There is a little dude on top of my chops', man!
The best photo of the bunch. Takeo's expression is priceless. Dunno what he is thinking, but it might be his first WTF thought...
...Where's The Fudge? C'mon, man. What were YOU thinking it meant?... Jeez, he's just a baby... We haven't had enough time to warp him (yet)...
Second best photo. Is he smiling? Is he getting snarky? Who knows?! He is having a "Mona Lisa moment" here...
So kawaii (cute)!!! And you have to love his ROAR! bib. All done! It's all gone! Did he eat it all? What do you think? (see "best" & "second best" photos above for a clue)
